The Beat of a Different Drummer
In May of 2004, Meredith Music Publications released Dominick Cuccia’s book of “not so traditional” rudimental solos for the advanced drummer titled: The Beat of a Different Drummer. It features some of the music he has written for top competitors in the world of rudimental drumming. Some of these selections have also been used as audition pieces for The Old Guard, Walt Disney World, Busch Gardens, and Dorney Park. They’ve also been utilized for repertory class and recitals at the University level, and performed in concert at The Company of Fifers & Drummers Museum in Ivoryton, Connecticut. In a recent letter, Dr. Garwood Whaley, the president of Meredith Music, said, “Your book will make a great addition to percussion literature!” When Staff Sergeant Gus Cuccia performed one of these solos for repertoire class at Ithaca College, his instructor, Gordon Stout, said, “Dominick should get these published!” Staff Sergeant Steve Fidyk of the Army Blues, the University of Maryland and George Mason University asked, “Where can I get copies of this book for my students?” The
